I have learnt recently after watching my favourite dog programme Its Me Or The Dog with the trainer Victoria Stillwell, I have learnt that to solve your dogs barking problem you shouldn't shout at it because by making this loud noise the dog may think you're joining in and will bark even more. You must say to them 'quiet.' Say it quietly at first. If your dog doesn't hear or pay attention raise your voice a bit because I did that with my dog, I raised my voice a little made the hand motion-which is putting both hands flat out in front of you and pushing out the sides like you're swiping the air or washing a surface- and my dog listened. Since she barely ever barks at other dogs or when the door goes. And if she does I use the command and praise her if she's quiet. If you don't already watch this programme its very informative and good its on every day on channel 3.
